How much longer before “Sony” becomes a four-letter word that I can’t say on television (should I ever be on television)? The latest news from Sonyville (population: Kaz Hirai and Ken Kutaragi) is that the “premium” PlayStation 3 bundle (the one that runs for $600) will not include an HDMI video cable. Those buying the “cheaper” $500 bundle don’t have to worry, because their model doesn’t even come with an HDMI port.
Is this a huge deal? No, but in my opinion it’s inconsiderate on the part of Sony. At a time when the company needs goodwill from its customers, it’s the little things that are going to get them the street cred they need. Making them shell out another $20 for an HDMI cable—just to use a feature that is widely touted as a selling point of the high-end bundle—is just adding insult to injury.
You wrote an article to complain that the PS3 might not have a cable? i have two words for that: SO WHAT?
You can spend $600 but having to bu an HDMI cable goes too far? Boo-frckety-hoo.
This is really petty stuff to whine about. If the PS3 fails, it isn't going to be because they didn't include a cable, it's going to be because the press keeps writing garbage about something that hasn't even shipped yet.
I'll continue to wait patiently for my PS3. With or without cable, I think it's going to be the best game system ever produced for home users.
